Termites on fruit trees in Thies area (Senegal) (Isoptera).

Abstract : Nineteen termite species were recorded on fruit trees in Thies, Senegal. Citrus (Citrus spp.), cashew (Anacardium occidentale), coconut (Cocos nucifera) and mango (Mangifera indica), which were the dominant trees, showed 26.9, 54.4, 17.1 and 57.9% infestation. The xylophagous termites (Microcerotermes and Amitermes, in particular) and the fungus growing termites (especially Microtermes and Odontotermes) were the most damaging, resulting in the deterioration of infested trees.
