Abstract : This chapter assesses how the market for non-staple crops (maize, mangoes, potatoes, tomatoes and turmeric) currently functions in India and how existing agricultural marketing institutions can be improved. It describes the production of non-staple crops, the market infrastructure and organization, and quality control in the value chain. Some suggestions are presented regarding possible policy improvements.
