Abstract : Mango trees located in a 15-year-old orchard in the subtropical fruit-producing area of Andalucia (southern Spain) developed symptoms such as wilting, chlorosis, sparse leaf production, microphylly and bark cracking. In July 2004, a Phytophthora species was isolated at low frequency from roots of infected plants. The isolate was identified as P. citricola based on morphological characteristics. This is thought to be the first report of P. citricola in mango and the first record of this pathogen for Spain.
