Abstract : This paper discusses fruit production in India, particularly for tropical and subtropical fruits (Mangifera indica, Musa sapientum [Musa paradisiaca], Citrus reticulata, Citrus sinensis, Citrus aurantiifolia, Carica papaya, Psidium guajava, Vitis vinifera, Ananas comosus, Manilkara zapota, Litchi chinensis, Emblica officinalis [Phyllanthus emblica], Ziziphus mauritiana and Phoenix dactylifera), underutilized fruits (Aegle marmelos, Syzygium cumini, Carissa carandas, Artocarpus heterophyllus and Feronia limonia [Limonia acidissima]) and temperate fruits (Malus domestica, Pyrus communis and Prunus persica).
