Abstract : In a field experiment (Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, during 2002-03), 5-year-old trees of mango cultivars Baneshan, Mallika, Totapuri, Chinna Rasam and Himayuddin spaced at 5×5 m were pruned uniformly by decapitation of shoots above the nodal position of previous seasons growth. A total of 500 shoots of 25 plants were critically examined. The occurrence of subsequent flush growth was minimum with more number of laterals. Flowering was more in shoots with one and two flushes.
