Abstract : An experiment was carried out in Raichur, Karnataka, India during 2000-01 to standardize the time of softwood grafting in mango cultivars Khader, Mallika and Baneshan. The 3 cultivars were softwood grafted at fortnight intervals of August, September, October, November and December. The September grafting showed the earliest sprouting (24.50 days). Significantly the maximum percentage of sprouting (82.50%) and graft take (54.56%) was observed in the first fortnight of September grafting. The December grafting exhibited the poorest with respect to sprouting and survival of grafts. Among the 3 cultivars, Mallika showed the highest percentage of sprouting (68.90%) and graft take (40.52%), the lowest was observed with Baneshan.
