Effect of pruning on vegetative and reproductive growth in alternate bearing varieties of mango.

Abstract : Alternate bearing in mango cv. Alphonso and Raspuri is tackled effectively by subjecting pruning of current season shoots to mild, medium and severe levels along with control (no-pruning). Production of inflorescence was possible from the leaf axils of the current season shoot. Further, it was concluded from the present study that the typical alternate bearing problem in Alphonso and Raspuri could be effectively controlled by timely and judicious pruning of the shoots.
