Entrepreneurial behaviour of mango growers in Ratnagiri, India.

Abstract : The entrepreneurial behaviour of 100 mango growers from 10 villages in Ratnagiri, Konkan, Maharashtra, India, were studied. The majority of the respondents (64.0%) exhibited moderate levels of innovativeness, whereas 15.0 and 13.0% showed high and low levels of innovativeness, respectively. Only 8.0% of the respondents were not innovative. Decision-making ability was moderate, low and high in 53.0, 20.0 and 27.0% of the respondents, whereas achievement motivation was moderate, low and high in 59.0, 19.0 and 22.0% of the respondents, respectively. Most of the respondents showed moderate levels of information-seeking (74.0%) and risk-taking (47.0%) abilities; the other respondents were characterized by either low (12.0 and 23.0%) or high (14.0 and 30.0%) capacities to seek information and take risks. The majority of the respondents (69.0%) exhibited moderate levels of entrepreneurial behaviour.
