Abstract : The growth and development of mango (cv. Zihuamang) flower buds were studied using various methods including picking off leaves and paraffin sectioning. The results showed that physiological differentiation started after 1-6 weeks, in early November, when the last mature shoots stopped growing. More than 75% of buds passed the physiological differentiation stage until 23 November. Morphological differentiation stage began in mid-November after the last mature shoots stopped growing, until mid- or late January the following year, and the morphological differentiation stage lasted for 60-75 days. Vegetative stage or the period of leaf bud was from 30 October to 6 November. The preceding differentiation of flower bud was from 16 November to 4 January in the succeeding year. Inflorescence differentiation stage was from 16 November to 8 January in the next year. The first branching of inflorescence was from 21 December to 8 January in the following year. The second branching of inflorescence was from 21 December to 14 January in the next year. The small flower organ of basal inflorescence began to differentiate from 8 January to 26 January in the next year. At first, the calyx and petal began to differentiate, followed by the stamen, pistil and honey plate.
