Abstract : A field experiment was conducted in the eastern dry zone of Karnataka to evaluate six varieties (Kesar, Aishwarya, Dashehari, Baneshan, Alphonso and Ratnagiri Alphonso) and nine hybrids (Arka Puneet, Arka Anmol, Arka Neelkiran, Mallika, Amrapali, Sindhu, Ratna, Neeleshan and Neelgoa) of mango for their growth, flowering and yield pattern for two years (2003-04 and 2004-05). Arka Anmol, Baneshan and Mallika recorded higher values for growth parameters. Amrapali showed maximum length and breadth of the panicle. However, the total number of flowers per panicle varied from 950.30 (Aishwarya) to 2153.71 (Arka Anmol). The sex ratio (male to hermaphrodite) was maximum in Aishwarya (1.86:1) and minimum in Baneshan (44.3:1). Maximum average fruit weight was recorded in Mallika (349.99 g) and number of fruits per tree was in Amrapali (138.97). Mallika, Arka Anmol and Amrapali were found to be superior in their fruit yield per tree.
