Screening of mango hybrids for folerance against leaf cutting weevil in new alluvial zone of West Bengal.

Abstract : In an experiment conducted in Gayeshpur, Nadia, West Bengal, India, during 2002-04, 10 mango hybrids (Swarna Jehangir, Ratna, Au Rumani, Mallika, Prabha Sankar, Neelgoa, Neeleshan, Neeluddin, Amrapali and Mahmud Bahar) were evaluated for resistance to leaf cutting weevil (Deporaus marginatus). In 2002, 2003 and 2004, the lowest mean infestation levels were recorded for Prabha Sankar (21.30, 11.20 and 22.90%, respectively) and Mahmud Bahar (27.20, 19.70 and 20.0%). Neeluddin registered the highest mean infestation levels in all years (62.70, 78.90 and 67.50%).
