Abstract : An experiment was conducted in Bangladesh, from July 2002 to July 2003 to study the effect of plant extracts and time of application on the incidence of anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata]), yield and quality of mango cv. Amrapali. The treatments comprised: garlic (Allium sativum) extract (T1), Bishkatali (Polygonum hydropiper) extract (T2), Lantana extract (T3), Dholkalmi extract (T4), Lime extract (T5), Nishindha extract (T6), Neem (Azadirachta indica) extract (T7); Neem + Nishindha + Garlic + Chili (T8); Dithane M-45 [mancozeb] (T9); and the control (T10). The plants were sprayed thrice, namely: before emergence of inflorescence (B1); before emergence of inflorescence + after emergence of inflorescence (B2); before emergence of inflorescence + after emergence of inflorescence + after fruit set (B3). The highest yield (5.30 t/ha) was obtained from B3 and the lowest (2.86 t/ha) was from the control. The highest number of healthy fruits (30) and yield (6.44 t/ha) was observed from Dithane M-45 and the lowest number of healthy fruits (13) and yield (2.28 t/ha) were observed from the control. The second highest number of healthy fruits (28) and yield (5.59 t/ha) were obtained with garlic extract.
