Observation on the flower bud differentiation of mango cultivar Zihuamang.

Abstract : The flower bud differentiation process of Zihuamang mango cultivar was observed in 2003 and 2004. Materials were collected from a 17-year-old tree. Results showed that the physiological differentiation of the flower bud began in early November, beginning from the first week after the late shoot growth stopped until the sixth week; by 23 November over 75% of flower bud physiological differentiation had finished. The morphological differentiation of the flower buds began in mid-November and continued till mid-late January, lasting for 60-75 days. the differentiation process begain with the differentiation of calyx, the sepal, stamen, pistil and honey sac.
