Abstract : In trials in 2004-5 in the Qinzhou area, 10-year-old trees of mango cv. Zihuamang were pruned on 16 or 31 August, 16 or 30 September; 16 October or 1 or 18 November. Crown volume, shoot growth and production were evaluated. Results showed that the earlier the pruning, the more compact the tree. The average yield of trees pruned on 16 August was 19.3 kg/tree and on 31 August 18.5 kg/tree, while trees pruned on 16 October yielded 6.8 kg/tree, and the control yielded 4.4 kg/tree. Pruning on 16 or 31 August is recommended.
