Abstract : Three-year-old mango trees damaged to ground level by frosts (-3 to -4 deg C) between 26 December 1972 and 2 January 1973, were top grafted at the root crown; less damaged trees were side grafted also at the root crown. Grafting was carried out between mid-June and mid-July. The procedure is described and illustrated. Take was generally satisfactory and data are tabulated on the percentage take of the cvs Maya, Keitt, Palmer and Tommy Atkins on Sabre rootstocks, and of Tommy Atkins on Ruppin rootstocks. The highest graft take (70%) was observed in Palmer top grafted on Sabre, and in Tommy Atkins (67%) on Ruppin. Side grafting gave poorer results.
