Effect of ringing and growth retardants on growth and flowering of mango.

Abstract : Attempts were made to induce flowering in an off-year in the irregularly bearing mango cv. Langra. Cycocel [chlormequat] at 3000 mg/l on ringed shoots produced the largest number of flower panicles (62.3%) and controls the lowest (8%). MH at 1500 mg/l with ringing reduced shoot length, increased shoot diameter, and generally decreased vegetative growth. All the treatments produced satisfactory percentages of flower buds in comparison with controls, and advanced flowering time. CEPA at 400 mg/l advanced flowering by 16 days.
