Abstract : Investigations on effect of different fungicides as field disinfectants of mango explants were carried out. Different fungicides were screened for their efficiency to control fungal growth in in-vitro cultures. The results revealed that the explants of current season's growth treated with a combination of carbendazim and mancozeb @ 0.2 per cent concentration followed by laboratory sterilization with 0.1 per cent HgCl2 for 10 min significantly checked the growth and spread of fungus in in vitro cultures. The treatment of Tropiconozole @ 0.2 per cent was also found promising. The saprophytes like Aspergillus, Fusarium, Black and Brown moulds were common contaminants noticed in the cultures.
