Abstract : Mango plants starts bearing fruits in the fourth year but positive net returns are generated in fifth year. The net returns goes on increasing in the successive years till it reaches the highest in tenth year of plantation. It can fetch over rupees one lakh per acre in its peak fruiting stage. The higher benefit cost ratio of 1:5.8 indicates that mango plantation is highly viable enterprise. Thus, there is a need to encourage the mango cultivation in the state.
