Abstract : Forty seedling origin elite mangoes of Malda and Murshidabad were screened for regular bearing habit, fruit skin colour and quality, shelf life and pest resistance particularly to leaf and shoot gall psyllid during year 1995-98. Among the different varieties screened, Langra Guthi No. 1 & 2. Ashubabu, Kishnabhog Selection, Misrikhan Chapti, Gopibhog etc. were found regular bearer. The fruit colour of Langra Guthi becomes bright yellow at ripening and ripens earlier than Langra. The infestation of leaf and shoot gall was either absent or very low in Gopibhog. Durlovbhog and Kabargaon Guthi. The varieties having prolonged shelf life identified were Rari, Guthi (2), Guthi (24), Amritbhog, Batasia etc.
