The mango chain in Tapachula, Chiapas: clusters, networks and competitive advantages.

Abstract : The aim of this article is to analyze the feasibility of building, in Tapachula (Chiapas), a mango economic network. The analysis is based on a methodology designed for the construction of networks, and the general conditions under which the chain of mango production and commercialization located in Tapachula operates, are valued. The main results are as follows: there are general conditions in Tapachula for building a mango network. Nevertheless, in order to accomplish this, development agencies are needed to foster cooperation mechanisms among those actors which participate in the mango chain.
