Abstract : The feeding preference of Indarbela quadrinotata on different horticultural and forest plant species was investigated during 2002/03 and 2003/04 in order to identify host plants in East Nimar, Madhya Pradesh, India. The studied plant species were Mangifera indica, Psidium guajava, Ziziphus jujuba, Emblica officinalis [Phyllanthus emblica], Punica granatum, Citrus orientifolia [Citrus aurantiifolia], Moringa oleifera, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Annona squamosa, Annona aetimoa [Annona reticulata], Azadirachta indica, Tectona grandis, Dalbergia sissoo, Albizia procera, Cassia fistula, Acacia leucocephala, Eucalyptus hybrid and Gmelina arborea. No incidence was observed in Annona squamosa, Annona aetimoa, Azadirachta indica, T. grandis and Eucalyptus hybrid. During 2002/03 and 2003/04, the maximum numbers of active larval burrows/holes per plant were recorded in Acacia leucocephala (32.14 and 35.79, respectively), followed by Emblica officinalis (31.02 and 32.46, respectively).
