Abstract : Nineteen cultivars of mango grown in West Bengal, India, were characterized based on physical and biochemical parameters to identify the cultivars with the greatest potential for processing and future breeding programmes. Principal component analysis, which revealed 67.15% of variance among the cultivars, showed that Daudia, Himsagar, Zardalu and Chandankosa were the optimum cultivars with respect to biochemical composition. Dilshad, Daudia, and Chini Champa recorded higher fruit weights. Cluster analysis also categorized the cultivars according to their processing potential.
