Abstract : A field investigation was conducted for two cropping seasons (2000-2001) and (2001-2002), in Bihar, India, to study the effect of foliar application of mineral nutrients on flowering and fruiting character of Amrapali mango. Urea, zinc sulfate and borax were sprayed at different levels alone or in combination to observe the flowering and fruiting of mango. The results showed remarkable influence of different nutrients on flowering and fruiting characters. However, foliar application of urea 2% in combination with ZnSO4 0.5% or borax 0.5% were the most effective treatments in improving the flowering and fruiting characters of Amrapali mango. Maximum number of perfect flowers and fruit retention were found with the spray of urea 2% in combination with ZnSO4 0.5%. All the treatments were effective in increasing the yield but urea 2% along with ZnSO4 either 0.5 or 1.0% was most effective treatment.
