Studies on insect pest infestations and diseases of some mango germplasms.

Abstract : An investigation was carried out with 22 mango germplasm namely Rad, Farooquebhog, Neelumbori, Neelumboti, Chausa, Mallika, Tommy Atkin, Hybrid-10, Shindhu, Mixed Special, Gopalbhog, Surmai Fazli, Langra, Khirsapat, Amrapali, BARI Aam-1, Pahlam, Kent, Keitt, Palmar, Kalibhog and Sindhi was carried out at the Germplasm (GP) Center of Fruit Tree Improvement Project (FTIP), Department of Horticulture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh during December, 2002 to December, 2003 to know the different diseases and insect pests and their infestation level. All the germplasm studied were affected by anthracnose and red rust in different degrees but Farooquebhog, Surmai Fazli, and Langra were free from floral malformation whereas Gopalbhog and Surmai Fazli were free from scab. On the other hand, all the germplasm were observed the degree of infestation by mango hopper. The highest infestation was observed in Langra due to fruit fly whereas maximum damaged fruit was recorded in Neelumboti caused by fruit weevil.
