Abstract : Mango bacterial black spot is one of the 3 important mango diseases and cause serious damage in China in recent years. Breeding and selecting resistant cultivars is the best way for solving such problem. Resistance of 19 mango cultivars to bacterial black spot disease (Xanthomonas campestris pv. mangiferae-indicae) was evaluated by artificial inoculation in field. The result showed that the bronze leaf cultivars were more resistant to this disease than pale-green or dark green leaf cultivars. The average latent period of the pathogen was about 6 d. However, the latent period was different on leaves among the mango cultivars. Yuemango was a susceptible cultivar; Fengshunwuhemango, Jinsuimango, Sijimango, Hongmango, Yexi No. 1, Shengzimango, Maqiemango, Tainong, Irwin, Remango and Keitt were moderately resistant, while Xiangjiaomango, Mimango, Longjing, Dabaiyu Hongxiangyamango and Guixiang were resistant. No highly resistant or immune cultivar was found.
