Abstract : In mainland Spain, mangoes under plastic occupy approximately 15 ha of a total of near 1500 ha. Growth and cropping in both environments were compared. Air temperature, incidence of Pseudomonas syringae and Oidium mangiferae, fruit colour, yield, cost of production and fruit prices were discussed. Mango production under plastic was profitable due to earlier ripening. Good ventilation was essential, otherwise high air temperature drastically reduced yields.
