Abstract : Several insecticides were applied prophylactically to mature mango trees, cv. Rumani, either by spraying (at 0.1%) or painting (at 0.5%) the trunk and branches at intervals of 1 or 2 months. The best results were obtained with monocrotophos and phosalone, sprayed or painted at monthly intervals. In curative trials in which several insecticides were applied to the boreholes, which were then plastered with wet clay, aluminium phosphide tablets (3 g/hole) and dichlorvos (0.1% spray) gave complete control.
