Abstract : Results are presented of studies investigating under in vitro condition the effect of (1) different synthetic and semi-synthetic culture media (Algar culture broth, Algal proteose broth, Blue green-11, Bristol, George, Go algal, Potato glucose broth, and Trebouxia agar); and (2) tea leaf, stem and root extract agar media, and plant growth hormones (IAA, IBA, 2,4-D and NAA) on the radial growth of C. parasiticus, collected from different tea leaves having red rust lesion in Valparai (Tamil Nadu), Vandiperiyar (Kerala) and Chikmagalur (Karnataka), India. The pathogenicity of C. parasiticus was also investigated using different host plants, i.e. tea, coffee, mango, citrus and guava.
