Abstract : In studies in the Tehuantepec Isthmus, Mexico, in 1976 in mango orchards infested by Anastrepha ludens (Lw.), a bait-spray containing fenthion (Lebaycid) and an attractant applied every 15 days to a single branch of each tree proved more effective in reducing the populations of the fruitfly than bait-traps carrying the same compounds as contained in the bait-spray. The percentage of fruits infested was reduced from 30-50 in unprotected orchards to 1-4 in those protected by the bait-sprays and 9-16 in those protected with traps.
