Abstract : USA is the main mango (M. indica) importer in the world, and México is its main supplier. The Mexican mango share in the US imports has decreased, while imports from Peru, Brazil and Ecuador have increased. An analysis of the international mango market between USA and México by means of a simultaneous equations model is presented. A 20% increase in exports is simulated, and this is enough reduce the internal mango price in the USA. Results show that such price decrease can be accommodated by an income increase, and even when the production cost increases, the resulting cost benefit ratio is greater than one.
