Abstract : An experiment was conducted during 1999-2000 and 2000-01 in New Delhi, India to determine the effect of pruning on mango production. Fourteen-year old plants of mango cv. Amrapali were subjected to 3 pruning treatments viz., light (10 cm from apex), moderate (20 cm from apex) and severe (30 cm from apex). During the year 1999-2000, the number of total (55.20) and normal (52.60) panicles were maximum in moderately pruned plants. Malformed panicles per plant was highest in control (17.94) during 1999-2000 and 14.52 in 2000-01 and lowest, 4.71 and 5.60, during 1999-2000 and 2000-01, respectively in moderately pruning treatment.
