Irrigation and fertilization of mangoes.

Abstract : An excavated root system of a mango tree, cv. Sabre, is described and illustrated. At least 80% of the fibrous roots were below the canopy to a depth of 1 m, and this zone is recommended for irrigation and fertilizer applications. Details are given of the recommended NPK fertilizer applications for trees of various ages, and of the irrigation intervals throughout the year for light and heavy soils in the Nelspruit and Malelane districts.
