Abstract : Dynamic thermogravimetry (TG) analysis under nitrogen has been applied on four wood veneers eucalyptus (Globulus), poplar (Populus), mango (Mangifera indica) and gurjan (Dipterocarpus alatus) which are main constituents of plywood manufactured in India. Various degradation models including the Kissinger, Friedman, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (O-F-W) and modified Coats-Redfern were used at four different heating rate 3, 6, 10 and 15 K min-1 to determine activation energies of these wood veneers. The activation energy values of above wood veneers were in the range 125-190 kJ mol-1. Based on this study, a simple approach can be worked out to understand the thermal decomposition behaviour of wood veneers in plywood and polymer composite processing industry.
