Abstract : Mangoes were picked at the mature-green stage from unsprayed trees and immersed in a benomyl suspension at 55 deg C for 5 min, after which they were held at ambient temperatures for 7 days followed by storage at 10 deg for 14 days. Excellent control of anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) and soft brown rots, assessed 23 days after harvest, was achieved. Waxing the fruits immediately after dipping obviated shrivelling and maintained fruit finish. Gamma irradiation (100 krad) 24 or 96 h after dipping did not enhance disease control and caused some damage.
