Abstract : In the tissues of healthy inflorescences, the contents of saccharides, proteins and chlorophyll were higher in Himsagar than in Bombai. In malformed tissue from diseased inflorescences, sampled 30 and 45 days after inoculation with Gibberella fujikuroi conidia, protein content had increased in both varieties, but more rapidly in Himsagar, whereas both saccharide and chlorophyll contents had decreased, in both cases more rapidly in Bombai.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:F. moniliforme [Gibberella fujikuroi] var. subglutinans was isolated from malformed mango inflorescences collected in the Burdwan area. Cv. Himsagar showed a higher content of total saccharides, chlorophyll and protein than cv. Bombai. In malformed inflorescences of both cvs. there was a considerable decrease in saccharide and chlorophyll content and an increase in protein.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:F. moniliforme [Gibberella fujikuroi] var. subglutinans was isolated from malformed mango inflorescences collected in the Burdwan area.
