Anthelmintic activity of the crude extracts of Mangifera indica L.

Abstract : The crude ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of Mangifera indica L. was evaluated for anthelmintic activity using adult earthworms, in which Mangifera indica root extracts exhibited a dose dependent inhibition of spontaneous motility (paralysis) and evoked responses to pin-prick. With higher doses (30 mg/ml of ethyl acetate extract), the effects were comparable with that of 3% piperazine citrate.
