Abstract : Data on twelve physical and chemical characters are presented for the fruit from twelve-year-old plants of twelve varieties. Alphonso was the best, exhibiting the highest total soluble solids and sugar contents, the lowest acid content and good flavour. Content of soluble solids and sugar contents were positively correlated.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:Studies were carried out on 12-year-old plants of 12 mango cvs. Data are tabulated on fruit length, width, average weight, shape, colour, specific gravity, skin texture and flavour, and on TSS, acidity and sugar contents. The cv. most suitable for growing in North India was Alphonso, followed by Neelum.
