Abstract : Naturally infested mango (Mangifera indica) roots collected from Oderolal farm, Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan, from a depth of 0-30 cm revealed that Meloidogyne javanica juveniles penetrated the roots by puncturing the stylet. Great variation in cell sizes was observed. The giant cells were in the process of liquefaction and the cells of the cortex were full of matrix, resulting to disruption. Moreover, the disruption of cortical cells due to migration of larvae partly contributed to the development of knots in mango roots.
