Abstract : The present study was conducted for storage behaviour and physical characters of eight mango varieties. Time required for ripening, post ripening life, physiological loss in weight, specific gravity and spoilage percentage were evaluated. Safdar Pasand and Amrapali took longer time for ripening (8.33 days), while Himsagar ripened within a short period (4.33 days). Bombai had maximum post ripening life (8.67 days), while Himsagar had least post ripening life (3.00 days). Gulabkhas and Bombai had a maximum post harvest life (13.33 days), while minimum post harvest life in Himsagar (7.33 days). The minimum physiological loss in weight was found in Amrapali (17.50%) and maximum in Himsagar (37.51%). The maximum spoilage loss was noticed in Himsagar (35.53%) while minimum in Bombai (11.32%) on thirteenth day of storage.
