Abstract : In 2-year studies, seasonal changes in glucose, fructose, sucrose and starch were determined in current year shoots of 20-year-old trees of the mango cvs Mulgoa, Banganapalle, Neelum and Banglora. Glucose and fructose levels significantly decreased in all cvs during flower bud formation but then rose sharply, reaching a maximum during inflorescence development and panicle emergence. The sucrose level gradually increased to reach a maximum during flower bud formation and declined thereafter in all cvs. A similar trend was noted with regard to starch level. The data are tabulated. The level of all substances was always higher in the on year.
