Abstract : Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used to determine the mangiferin content in alcohol (50%) extract of mango leaves. The maximum absorbance of mangiferin was recorded at the wavelength of 319 nm, without any other peaks. In the range of 5-50 µg/mL, the linear relation of the linear equation was found significant (R2=0.9968). The stable time of mangiferin determination was 2 h. As compared to HPLC method, the method used in this research was simple, quick, accurate, reliable and reproducible, and could be used to determine the mangiferin content in mango leaf extract.
