Abstract : Mango is one of export commodities of Indonesia. Mango cultivars mostly exported are gedong gincu and arumanis. Distribution is a crucial point in marketing of perishable products, including mango. Packaging of fruit is intended to ease storing and transportation, increase distribution efficiency, and minimize damages. Therefore, the packages used have to prevent the fruits from damages, maintain fruits quality, and give an efficient cost. Arumanis mango exporters commonly use corrugated-cardboard boxes. The article reviewed the use of corrugatedcardboard boxes for arumanis mango packaging based on type and dimension of package commonly used by producers or exporters in some production centers in Indonesia. The review was also correlated with efficiency of pallet which is also used in mango distribution or export. Loading efficiency of pallet for arumanis mango packages was 60-100%. Arumanis mango packages of 450 mm × 220 mm × 180 mm used by producers/exporters in Cirebon had the highest loading efficiency. The standard operating procedur (SOP) and recommended packaging of arumanis mango for export was double-wall corrugated cardboard boxes with regular slotted container/RSC, or fulltelescopic, self-locking type, having the dimension of 450 mm × 220 mm × 180 mm. For the best result, use of net foam for individual mango wrapping before packing and a layer of shredded paper in the base of the carton is recommended. Ventilation and handle holes are recommended to provide adequate aeration and ease handling. Carton labelling for the individual markets should be followed.
