Abstract : Studies were carried out with 17 mango cvs on local Hilacha rootstocks and 11 avocado cvs on local Antillana rootstocks. The 10- to 11-year-old trees of both crops received annually NPK (12-24-12) fertilizer at 6 kg/tree (mango) and 5 kg/tree (avocado) in split applications in January, April, July and October. Data are tabulated on leaf N, P, K, Ca and Mg contents in both crops, on root distribution in the mango cv. Haden in 7 soil layers ranging from 0 to 170 cm deep and on the lateral root distribution at 0.5, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 m from the trunk. Leaf nutrient contents in both crops were considered average and the low yields obtained were attributed to inadequate irrigation and to wind damage, particularly in avocado.
