Abstract : The identity and role of bioactives of banana (phenolic compounds, vitamins, carotenoids, minerals, essential amino acids), pineapple (bromelain, vitamins and minerals, carotenoids and phenolic compounds), papaya (carotenoids and phenolics, vitamins and minerals, papain), mango (phenolic compounds, vitamins, carotenoids) are discussed. Their chemopreventive activity and bioavailability and the effect of preharvest and postharvest continuum are also discussed.
