Abstract : During surveys conducted in Burkina Faso, in May 2010, leaves and branches with bacterial canker lesions wre collected from diseased mango cultivars Amélie, Brooks and Kent and from seedlings from 5 localities in Comoe and Houet. Severe infections were observed on the sampled trees and leaf symptoms were typical of bacterial canker. The pathogen was identified as Xanthomonas campestris pv. mangiferaeindicae based on genetic and pathogenicity tests. This is thought to be the first report of the occurrence of X. campestris pv. mangiferaeindicae on mangoes in Burkina Faso.
