Abstract : The present study was conducted to examine the hypoglycemic potency of seed kernels of Mangifera indica ethanol extract (MIEtE) in streptozotocin diabetic rats. Remarkable abnormalities were observed in serum and tissue parameters in hyperglycemic rats after streptozotocin administration. Administration of MIEtE, 300 mg/kg b. w./day for 14 and 21 days resulted in their normalization. Data were in parallel analyzed with a standard drug, glibenclamide, to compare plant drug efficacy. The findings of the present study demonstrated M. indica to possess a potent hypoglycemic activity.
