Abstract : Twelve coloured mango varieties namely Alphonso Bombai, Alphonso Poona, Gulabkhas, Hushnara, Moovendun, Sunder Prasad, Surkhverma, Zarda, Champakelwa, Pairi, Sinduriya and Langra were evaluated for their flowering, fruiting and fruit quality attributes during the year 2001 and 2002 under Sabour (Bihar) conditions. Maximum panicle length (32.25 cm) was found in Zardalu. Number of flowers per panicle was also found to be highest in Zardalu (1518.00) followed by Gulabkhas. Percentage of hermaphrodite flowers was recorded maximum in-Pairi (27.62). Highest fruit set per panicle was recorded in Alphonso Poona (62.50) followed by Sinduriya, Zarda and Moovendun. Sunder Prasad matured at the earliest on 23rd May and Sinduriya at the last on 2nd July. Rest of the varieties matured in between. Heaviest fruit was obtained in Alphonso Bombai (226.75 g) followed by Surkhverma. When the yield potential is recorded in terms of weight and pulp, it was observed that Alphonso Bombai, Sinduriya and Zardalu were high yielder. The highest pulp content was obtained in Alphonso Poona (78.81 per cent). Maximum TSS was recorded in Hushnara (24.94 per cent) and minimum acidity was noted in Sunder Prasad (0.12 per cent). Reducing sugar was found maximum in Gulabkhas (4.79 per cent) followed by Zardalu, while the total sugar was recorded maximum in Zardalu (15.77 per cent).
