Abstract : The Afrotropical soft scale Udinia catori (Green) is one of the most commonly intercepted coccids on imported plant material in England and Wales. It is frequently found in large numbers on fresh mango fruit (and associated foliage and stems) imported from West Africa. Two other Udinia species, U. farquharsoni (Newstead) and U. paupercula De Lotto, have also occasionally been detected on imported mango. The interception records, geographical distribution, biology and economic importance of the three Udinia species are reviewed, and a key to the identification of all four Udinia species recorded on mango is presented. Udinia catori and U. farquharsoni are recorded from Gambia for the first time and mango is recorded as a new host for U. paupercula.
