Abstract : In a study of three varieties over four years under the conditions of West Bengal, both Langra and Fazli, but especially the former, appeared to be biennial bearers, while Baramasia gave regular yields. The appearance of new shoots (green flushes) was more continuous and prolonged in Baramasia. The reproductive capacity of spring flush shoots was greatest, becoming progressively less in later flushes; this behaviour pattern was most marked in Langra. Fazli was a later-maturing cultivar than Langra.
