Abstract : Field studies on relative efficiency of different trap design and dispenser combinations to adult fruit flies were carried out in mango ecosystem using methyl eugenol as attractant. More fruit flies were trapped in cylindrical traps with side hole (143.75) or bottom hole (121.00) containing lure blocks. Next in rank were adult catches in spherical trap having bottom hole and lure blocks. This was followed by cylindrical traps having side holes and cotton wick dispenser. Triangular traps with side hole and lure blocks and spherical traps with bottom hole and lure septum were found to catch very low numbers. The first two combinations of trap-dispenser were consistent in attracting higher numbers of each of the four constituent species, Bactrocera caryeae, B. dorsalis and B. correcta and an unidentified Bactrocera sp. These two trap combinations being on par could be interchangeably used for maximizing fruit fly catches in mango ecosystems.
